What is this?
I got my truck last year. I don't know much about the history of the truck.
I had the door panel off and saw these black squares of rubber on the insides of the door. what are they?
does this mean it has been repaired? Or were they put in there from the factory?

I think 85e150six4mtod is on track with his thought. There are a couple of ways to reduce niose. I do know they used a spray on tar like substance. I haven't seen the patches like that though.

THROW A MAGNET ON THE OUTSIDE AND THAT WILL CLEARUP THE REPAIR THOUGHT,I'M WITH CAMPER65, WAY TOO CLEAN TO HAVE BEEN REPAIRED..tbritt

Pull up your rubber floor mat if that's still in yours. I'll bet you see the same stuff under that. Sound deadener.

Factory sound deadener
It's a product called Butyl Rubber. It was (is?) available from automotive paint supply stores.
It came in a 3' sheet, so it was cut to fit.
It was glued on by an trim cement (C2AZ-19C525-A). The same stuff was also used to glue the padded dashes on, etc.
