overhead console removal?
I plane to hard wire a radar detector above the rear view Mirror. Any one have and advice on just how to remove the over head console safely.
All i see is on screw in the center of the unit in the sunglass holder compartment. When its removed there is still 2 or 3 screws holding it to the roof.

On my '00, there's only a single screw, the one you mention, then clips in front and bracket in back. Remove said screw, pull down firmly on the front end till it releases then slide the back end out. Shouldn't take more than 3-4 minutes. Watch out for a buch of wires.

Buzzard has it right. Next thing then is you'll have to run a + and - wires from the fuse box, snaking them along the A pillar, cross over the headliner from the door toward the now big hole in the ceiling where you removed the console. It's actualy very easy. Also, you may want to put the wires behind the sunvisor screws (remove the sunvisor, look for the wires you just snaked through, and make sure they're behind the screws (meaning that the wire is farther away from the windshield than the screw holes). Put the visor back up (this takes < 3 minutes), and you'll be sure that the wires won't fall down from the headliner. It seems that if you just 'pushed' them in along the windshield, that they never stay up there and want to come down, putting them behind the screws, ensures that it doesn't. This whole job should take you about 1/2 hour.
