ive got one from a 88 t-bird. and was wondering if i can use the axles and disc set up from a 92 crown vic.. i know id have to shorten the axles but this would give me disc and 5 lug....it on a very tight budget and i have both these alxes sitting in my garage....thanx in advance.
Yes, I think it could be done.
However, shortening the axles and very tight budget probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence.
I think it would be more cost effective to find an appropriate correct width and bolt pattern donor. (ei. Explorer, Granada, etc.)
5x4.5 can be achieved by using driver side only axle shafts from a Ford Ranger with 9" drums. Or passenger side only shafts from an Aerostar, mid eighties, earlier nineties. It's a direct swap. the downside is you are still using drum brakes. Only a few 88 tbirds got the smooth surface 10" drums. There's nothing you can do with these that I know of. the spline count is 28. CHE makes adjustable arms for using the suspension that bolts onto that axle. If your car was a turbo coupe, it would already have disc brakes. IMO, the Explorer axle would be better.
whats the width of the exploror? and what do u mean about the axles and drives vs passangers sides? like im going to have to get 2 of one or the other? is that beacuse its an offset axle?
