i have a 66 f 100 with a 352 5.8l v8 engine, the tranny was swaped out with a warner t-18 tranny. the tranny may be a jeep 4sd tranny by warner. i am about to replace the clutch. i want to know if the engine or tranny determines the clutch type. i know jeeps will accept a ford engine to their tranny. i suspect my tranny is a warner t-18 from a jeep cj5, because i purchased a speedo cable from ford for a warner t-18 and the connector was wrong. i then found one on the internet that fits a jeep warner t-18 tranny. it looks like the correct one. my speedo cable was broken. please tell me as i have purchased an 11" 3 finger clutch for a 352 to replace mine that is worn out. jeff
Actually both affect the clutch chosen. The transmission input shaft determines spline count and diameter and the engine's flywheel determines the pressure plate diameter and bolt pattern. That said, if the Jeep transmission has the same spline count and diameter input(likely 1 1/16" x 10 spline) the 352 clutch will fit fine.
