first year for rear discs?

I need a roomier truck to supplement or replace my '89 Ranger LWB 4 x4 and a 1997-2003 F150 4 x 4 Supercab or Supercrew are on my list of vehicles that I'm considering.

I'm hoping to hold out for a manual transmission and am set on the 4.6 V8.

I know that I've seen rear discs on this generation of F150 and would like to know which years to narrow my search to.

My 250 is a 99 model, and my 150 is a 2000 both have rear disk.I would not pass on a 5.4 ..I have owned both 4.6//5.4 in F-150s and I like the 5.4 better not enough difference in mileage to notice and the 5.4 is much stornger than the 4.6.
I dont think the 5.4 has every been available with a manual trans in the f-150

'99 was the first year and yes, you cannot get a F150 with a 5.4L and a manual.
