I was thinking of things to do to my 97' 460 and remembered some one saying to change the timing on them for more power. If any one knows dose it work, and if it dose what dose it need to be set to? Thanks I am still trying to learn the basics
Factory is set at 10. Try setting it at 12 this is about all your going to get out of it. You can try going up 1 degree at a time after 12 till you get detonation. Then back off 1 to 2 degrees and lock it down. Remember it is still comtroled by the ecu.
You need to remove the PIP connector and set it with a timing light. The PIP looks like a small plug/chip in the wiring harness by the distributor. By removing this the computer doesn't affect timing. Remove set to 12 then reconnect the PIP. You must reconnect the PIP.
ok thanks ill put that on my list of things to do this weekend but first I need to get a timing light. I am really glad the awakening of my 460 is about to get under way its to big of a motor to have to such little power. I figured that if I am going to be getting 8mpg then I should at least be able to at least squeal the tires.
