hi. i have a 1992 f150. i am having difficulty locating the switch that operates the dome light/door buzzer on the drivers side of my truck. the passenger side has the standard plunger type switch that operates the dome light/buzzer right on the door frame of the cab, but the driver's side does not have this same setup. anyone know where this switch is? the problem i'm having is the light/buzzer go off while i'm driving down the road (door obviously closed). i temporarily removed the bulb, but still get the buzzer intermitently while driving. i can open the door slightly and re-close it and it will go off for awhile, but it always comes back on. nothing in either of my manuals covering this, so any info would be appreciated.
It's located on the B-Pillar towards the bottom (lower right hand corner if looking at the door outside the truck). It sounds like your switch has gone bad or has a short. They take a beating from shutting the door so much. I've already replaced mine. It's about a $30 part at Advanced/NAPA/Carquest/Auto Zone.
thanks. i went out and found the switch with a flashlight last night. it probably would have been much easier to locate during the day. removed it and tested it with an ohm meter. sure enough it is bad. it appeared to be pretty beat up. i have never seen the door switch in this location before on any vehicle. i wonder why they didn't use the same setup on the passenger side? hmmmm... thanks again.

Me neither...though I'm sure someone out there believed they had a good reason for doing it - even if it didn't make sense to anyone else. All I know is that due to it's location, it takes a lot more of a beating that one at the hinges. Oddly enough it cost 3 times as much as well.
