Putting the truck back to stock for dealer visit, and i read the thread in the tech folder and just making sure one last time that all i do is just touch one set of battery cables together? If so, how long? Just the cables and not to either of the terminals correct?

Disconnect BOTH SETS or you'll get an arc! The touching together of the cables on the battery-free circuit will cause the capacitors in the PCM (and related KAM) to drain down and kill the tiny charge that retains what little memory the PCM and KAM have.
appreciate it. Now to head for the dealer in the morning
You want to kill it to death, leaving no hope of power retention in the volatile memory, so turn on the lights, etc (as dumb as it sounds) when the batteries are out of circuit. Drain it down...
Best of luck!
I am pulling this out of the thread that Matt started originally about turning the truck back to stock. A poster stated that his radio presets were still there even though he went through the process. Then one guy stated that his stock radio still had the presets after 20 months on the shelf. The next guy said his were erased. I am asking because the question never got answered. If done right, should the preset stations be gone? Mine are still there
My presets always stay too... The KAM, on the other hand was wiped... Radio presets must have some protected static memory so folks don't lose the oldies station.
Radios have their own internal memory and it's not apart of the rest of the trucks electronics and that keeps them around for a little longer and the is a protection for power loss in there as well.
Sounds good. Is there something or sign to look for that the KAM has been wiped out or are you just assuming it is b/c you did the procedure? Sorry for all the ?'s, just learnin

Procedure + proof. My dealer goes looking for the indicators, but has never found anything to question other than that no codes exist... That in itself is a indicator of success; no more codes.

Putting the truck back to stock for dealer visit, .....
So UGA333....just wondering, are you taking it to the dealer with the intake and exhaust mods?
Just interested because I'm kinda' in the same boat with those mods on my '06. I'm in the process of restoring the intake back to stock, but I really hate the idea of having to remove the 4" turbo-back exhaust that was on the truck when I bought it. I know dealers are different, but I'm leery of taking a chance with the warranty.
Yeah. Before i did the intake and exhaust, i asked all three of the dealers in the area if they were cool with them. All 3 were cool with the intake but only one said that the turbo-back exhaust was cool. Just for my and their piece of mind, i had them install the downpipe, then me and a buddy finished off the rest. They have a performance center where they even sell tuners at the dealership. Just gotta ask them if they are willing to work with ya.
