Damn Jeremy, sorry to hear about the lady! I've been with mine for nearly five years, so I can only imagine her walking out

That had to be great smackin the Cummins! It's honestly a shame the timing isn't better for us two, as I would buy everything you have tomarrow, although I did just buy studs. We could even work out an install payment...Do you have a spare ride you could use for a while?

BTW, what has changed your mind all the sudden? Simply not happy with 500hp and want more, or are you afraid of blowing what ya got? I thought 450-500 on forged rods was pretty safe? Don't let me drop $10k on a waste if I'll have to eventually spend $18k on a Cummer. Not looking to be walking a thin line at 500horse...

Im thinking its going to take me till the end of the year to save up the funds to do the engine install. I'd get most of the parts together like the adaptors, mounts, wiring harness and all controls, build the engine and get the fueling and air all together, and then pull my powerstroke, sell it off for what little i can get for it, and use it to fund all the "custom-ity" it will take to shoehorn the stuff in. I am going to be taking a nice welding class sometime this year, should be a nice project im hoping. But i hope in 08 that there are some nice things that come out to make the install alot easier and smoother, i heard CR swaps are alot harder because of he wiring, than a mech. engine.

Jeremy im sorry to hear about the girl moving out, that must be hard. Im not living with my girl of 10 months, but after 10 months the newness has worn off of the relationship and in the past two weeks shes showing a different side of her, not always the side i like though, and combined with that "friend" they get, its not a pretty picture. I guess thats just a lesson on women and life, and it goes on. If you ever want to call me up and chat, you've got my number.

Thats the reason why i am "looking" at switching over to the darkside. Pretty ironic though, there's ALOT more light on the "darkside".

I had actually sent out a set of forged rods to BWD and i had about 4k in parts lined up and about to buy, when $3000 in taxes hit me and i had to shove back the order a little. And then the more and more i read about guys blowing up their engines at 500hp, i know damn sure i ain't gonna be one of them. 350isnt enough for my needs what i have now, i was considering pulling the engine and building it up to support 500hp, but even then, i'd still be walking a thin line. 18 years old, i cant afford to have my truck down to build the engine, get it running, and then blow it up again, wasting costly parts, and costing me 10K again to fix it. If im doing "the big power scene" im going to do it once, and im going to do it right. And it doesnt look like its gonna happen with a Powerstroke, even as much as i love them.

Kris, I hear ya' and totally agree with the "do it once and do it right" mentality, but I'm confused with the blown motors at 500HP. I've followed the same threads on PSN etc, but most of those rigs were running PMR's or even worse, aftermarket rods that were defective in some way. Are you refering to stock forged rods thet blew at 500 horse? I thought they were safe to 500ish hp??? Enlighten me?

I love the Cummins, sound power,,,,,,but 16-18K is a ton of coin for a stock motor. Certainly wouldn't want to have to build the 7.3 twice however....damn decisions!
Edit: there's a good thread on PSN about 500 horse and stock forged rods....the answer is....there is no answer! Some win and some lose, take the risk

Brandon, no excuses right now. I want to come, and by no means have ruled out the weekend. However, as you know, cash is tight right now and I'm worried about being able to have the extra funds to go. That combined with me paying all the household bills now, I'm stressed about finances. It's possible though that I could have a really good month and have no problems affording the trip. Got to love the commission jobs. If you've got a spot for me though, as I haven't made any kind of reservations, I'll try to get some funds set aside. Lord knows I could use the time away with you guys.

It was! I actually called a few guys today who drive Dodges and might know him so they could give him a hard time about it.

Actually, yes. The old '87 Jeep Wrangler gets me around pretty well.

I'm happy with 500HP, but honestly I'm a little worried about it letting go. From what I've read, it's not always a rod, but a block cracked, crank broken, piston cracked, etc... Of course, there are lots of guys who don't have any problems either. The ability to go above 500HP does appeal to me though. I'm a HP junkie and have modded every vehicle I've ever owned. It doesn't help either that when my truck was down for a day with the HPOP line leak, I was driving my buddies '04 CR Dodge around for the day and was impressed with the smoothness of the power delivery. I've always wanted compound turbos too, and that would be a lot easier with a CR.

As for the girl, thanks for the kind words guys. It's been a rough time, but we both saw it coming. Things have been askew for the last couple months. I guess our differences finally came to a boil, and we've decided it would be best for her to move out. We're not on bad terms with each other, but it's just really different not having her around when I'm home.

I reserved two rooms at deer ridge for 4 nights, to the tune of $350 a piece (for all nights, taxes etc). The guy who was planning on coming with me backed out again this year, due to working and starting up a business, making a prior commitment to a customer he needs to fufill when he should be gone at Smokin. So i was either going to cancel the room or let someone fill it. I'd love to have you stay, Deer Ridge is an awesome place, Ill cover half of the cost of the room if you want, just so you get your *** there

I am not going to take the chance of being one of those, that would totally devastate me, mind you put me in a situation of debt i might have to put a stock motor back in it. Some blew even less than 500hp, broken cranks, cracked blocks, etc. I dont wanna chance it, so i want to go with a 5.9 And then just doing that, it opens up a whole bunch of new windows, stud and o-ring the head, and youre good for anything the rest of the drivetrain can handle! I've been searching and researching prices all night, wow it gets expensive, but not anymore than a 7.3. The internal engine parts id normally spend on a 7.3 you can get dual fuelers and the turbos for. Plus injectors are only 1000 for stage 5!

Guys, I don't want to be a stick in the mud, though I do from time to time, but I cannot find anything on the DP site about Smokin. It is about 4 weeks out now. That is awful close and no info. Hmmm. Anyone got a link to something?

Kris, I may very well take you up on that offer. I need to look over some finances and dates this weekend. How soon do you need to know, in case you needed to cancel? PM or call me if you want.

Call me later on in the week if you want, we can talk about some other stuff too. I dont need to cancel for a while but i'll check their policy. It's a two person room so if you wanted to split it with another person, its up to you. I just know me and the lady have our own room were pretty psyched about.

What kinda baloney is this? Just come here and we will convoy down. Camp out with the men. Poke sticks in the fire and all, drink adult beverages and tell lies.

Besides, you may miss a lot of stupid criminal stories that I only tell at special times.

For some reason, I thought everyone was staying at the same place. Honestly, camping is something I enjoy and would rather hang around a camp fire, poking it with sticks, having beverages, and the lies are the best. I'd love to hear some stupid criminal stories too. No girl around = Jeremy doing stuff that she wouldn't enjoy or approve of. Could make for an interesting time.

Ok, so what would I need to bring to camp? Don't know what everyone has, and if I need a tent, I'll have to borrow one from one of my friends here.
