When breaking my 04 EB X I get a shake in the steering wheel. I have replace pads and roters all the way around and it did not improve. Of course while towing it is worse. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
I know that this is a simple and obvious question but how are your tires/wheels. If they are out of balance and the tires are worn unevenly then you could be looking at some shake. I would have said rotors but since you changed them out I would check into a balance rotate.
Had the same thing happen to my truck, replaced pads which had wear, still did it but a little less, then had a pad wear right down, FINALLY put on new rotors and a new set of pad BAM......GONE! BUUUUUUTTTTTT check the slide pin, mine were ok when looked at pulled on them, but pulled them out and they were ****ty!!!!! So at the end of the day, i would say it was like 50/50 rotors and pins/ Hope this helps!
JoeDwiesel,
That was my next thought. Did you do them or did you have them done? How bad is it going to hurt my wallet?
Fortunately my mechanic noticed it when I took it into him for an exam after I first bought it. Car Max pd for them to be replaced at 4 Wheel Drive Specialty in Richmond. They said it 'would have' cost me 800.00-1000.00$ if I had to pay for it, but that was for all 4 wheels. They also said it's a very common issue w/the Xs. I seen others here say it cost them over a grand for all 4.
If you have to have them replaced, make sure the new ones can be greased at regular intervals. The stock ones are sealed!
