My Buddy as a 97 F-350 and we checked it for codes and this came up (P1728)also the light on the shifter is flashing what could this mean ?

 

Well I know on my pickup, the OD light on the shifter flashes when I have the torque converter locked up manually. The 97 would have a different trans so I am not sure but maybe the same thing.

 

P1728 is the transmission slip error. The light that was flashing on his shifter was the OD light, right? It means the truck sensed an error with the transmission. Check the fluid, make sure it doesn't smell burned, check your fluid level.

Is the OD still flashing or did it go off?
