I have a 77 F-250, long bed std cab. 4wd 4sp 400. I'm not sure of the axles at this point, as I am new to the high boy game, but a die hard Ford fan by heart. I was wondering if their was any way to identify my truck as a pre or aft 77.5. I am wondering soley for suspension upgrades. Also, how do I know which axles I have, and transfer case. I keep reading about the p203 and the 205. What is the difference, and how do I determine which one mine is.
The odds are pretty good you have a Dana 44hdf low pinion in front and a Dana 60 in the rear with a four speed (np435) you will have the np205 part time transfer case. 203's were full time and only behind automatics .
203 was used behind 4 speed too. i know a guy that has a 77 high boy with a 4 speed and a 203 from factory he did the conversion to part time his self. he bought the truck new off the lot
