Exclamation starting problems-please help!!!!

So I just got done putting in ARP studs, made a blocker plate for the EGR-to-exhaust connection, and installed some -6AN fuel lines from the secondary filter to the front of the heads. My truck now takes about 10-15 seconds of cranking before it starts. The oil pressure gauge in the instrument cluster does not come up until the same moment the engine starts. Before tearing into the motor, there were no issues and the truck would start up in about 2 seconds, and about 2 seconds after starting, the oil psi would come up. What did I mess up ar forget to plug in? The only thing I can think of is the new oil stand pipes were an "updated" version that had a check valve in them? They fit in correctly and everything seemed fine. Also, all new o-rings on the injectors and copper washers, new stand pipes, cleaned the turbo, new fuel lines, and the EGR blocker. Thanks in advance.

The gauge in the cluster measures the Low pressure oil. The high pressure system is what the stand pipes are in. Your LPOP is on its way out, its cranking so long trying to get oil to the HPOP. IMHO

Why would the LPOP all of a sudden start doing this?

Did you air test the high pressure oil system after you finished putting it back together? If not check that before you do anything else.

New to this forum, but I am having a very similar problem wtih my '05 Excursion. Dealer replaced EGR and cooler and o-ring kit on HPOP. Now, engine cranks for 15 seconds when cold. Cranks about 5-10 seconds when warm (recently run). Dealer indicates that likely a leak caused by a damaged piston oil cooling jet or other crack is allowing the high pressure oil resorvoir is leaking down when engine is off. Claims that only fix is to do a short block. Any ideas?

If they screwed it up tell them to put the short block in.

Long Cranking Times at Factory Delivery or After HP Oil System Repair:
If a 6.0 cranks for longer than 2.5 seconds in temperatures above 32 degrees it may be due to air trapped in the HP oil system. To purge the air, drive the truck through 12 hard accelerations from 25-50 MPH. Turn off the engine and allow the truck to sit for 5 minutes. Restart the engine to see if crank time has improved. Crank times of 3-5 seconds in cold temperatures should be considered normal.

Hope this helps
