Yeah it's got a dash pot and the carb was rebuilt a year ago. I haven't ever really cleaned all the linkage so that's what I have to look forward too. The whole thing looks kind of mix and matched together but an "old-timer" looked at it and said he thought it was original. So I'll take it apart and de-rust it and clean it and say some nice words over it and see how it works. Thanks for the input-too bad I'm on-call this weekend and can't work on it!

Chris,

I've been unemployed for a while now and though I work hard everyday to get re-employed..... I would give anything to be "On Call". Count your blessings. The Truck can wait.

Good Luck

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, so please accept my apologies, I was only trying to convey the sense of urgency I feel about getting stuff accomplished on my truck because I'm so new at it. I wish there was some way to help with your situation. Good luck on the job hunt-it can't be easy.

Here, Here, I know the feeling well!
W/ all the physical damage I sustained over the years, the state says that I'm disabled enough that I can't be employed @ a regular job & work in the Film Industry is either Feast or Famine.

Hey - No apologies needed. I'm the one that owes the Apology.

That came off a bit more harsh than it should have. That's a problem sometimes when you write stuff. I was probably on my pity-pot for a few moments. It's frustrating when you are passionate about earning an honest living and you can't buy an Interview. Nuff said, I'll end up writing something stupid again.

Many thanks to those who provided both mechanical and moral support. I fixed the problem. I took off the linkage apparatus that bolts to the block and degreased it and soaked it in safest rust remover. Ooh baby the metal now shines and slides smoothly. This piece was covered in grease and I don't know if I should regrease it, use a different lubricant or leave it alone. I would appreciate any suggestions. The usual payment?

Chris,

Glad to hear you are motoring smoothly again!

I think I'd try some kind of dry lube before I used grease. Grease would eventually gum up with crud. Try some graphite or even give it a spray with carburetor cleaner. Most spray carb cleaners have an additive in them that leaves a film after it dries that acts as a lube.

Enjoy the ride
Bobby

Thanks for the advise. It had so much grease on it before and other particulate stuff it sounded like there was sand between the plates when I moved the throttle. I'll try the carb cleaner.
