Need Help Diagnosing 351W FI Engine Problem

I recently bought a totaled 95 Bronco for the engine. After much torching and metal sawing, I finally have it out of the mangled Bronco body and on my engine stand. My problem is it is locking up when I rotate it, on the #1 cylinder. It comes to a solid stop at about 5 degrees before TDC and when I back it up, it dead stops at about 5 degrees after TDC. It acts like it has something in the #1 cylinder. Could it have rotated enough after hitting a tree to "swallow" something? The wreck destroyed the oil pan, so I have it off to change it, but can see nothing in the lower end to lock it up.
All suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks.

If it was under any power when it was wrecked, and the engine came to a complete quick stop, then there is a good chance that a connecting rod or wrist pin broke. Could have also jumped time and the valves are hitting the pistons. I would pull the timing cover and check the gears and marks. It beats pulling the heads. Good luck.
