Transfer case question.

Embarassing to admit but I don't know where to check the oil on my T-case. It's a 91 Exploder automatic. A little help? Thanx.

On the back of the transfer case (you may have to remove the vibration dampener weight) is a fill plug. Remove the fill plug and stick your finger in. If you get fluid on your finger, it's full (fluid level should be about even with the bottom of the fill plug hole). If the fluid is dark brown or black, it probably is due a change. If it smells like gear lube, someone has put the wrong fluid in there (requires ATF).

Make sure you can remove the top plug(fill) before removing bottom plug (drain)
