poor fuel mileage

Im getting some poor fuel mileage, like 13 to 14.5 city & 14.5 on the highway,
I have the 4.10 rear end and the e4od tranny, just wondering if this is normal. my other truck I just got rid of was a chevy with a 350 and it got 11-13. Thats why I bought the PSD, just dont know if these mpg's should be normal or not.. thanks guys

Has it always been crappy mileage like that or just a sudden drop from good gas mileage now to what you posted for mpgs with 4.10s the gas mileage is not the greatest compared to say 3.73 how is your right foot heavy light proper tire pressure and tire size is important and tuned engine

With 4.10's.... 14-16ish is all you're going to see at 75. What modifications do you have done to your truck? My truck with 3.55's, and mods in Sig (with chip on economy setting) gets 17 at 75. Drop it down to 65 and I got 19-20. Try dropping so your RPM's are well below 2K is where you should see best mileage with 4.10's

try backing your speed on the highway down to 63-65mph. These trucks suck gas when you go over 2k rpm. I know people pass and it is frustrating, but we get 22mpg on our crew cab shorty, granted we have 3.55 rear, but you should still be getting high teens.

ya, im glad i got the 3.55 Rear,
and ya, definately slow down,
look into a 6637 mod and an exhaust, chip with an economy mode.
Should get you a little higher, and if you drive alot, it'll pay off fast!

I have a stock 1997 F250 Powerstroke AOD and I get about 16 mpg and my dad gets about 20 mpg and he has the exact same truck but his is a 5 spd is this normal? On a 1 1/2 tanks he gets 750-800 miles and I get about 400 to a 1 1/2. What can I do to improve my mileage?

750-800 miles out of 1 1/2 tanks seems pretty high to me. 400 out of 1 1/2 is really low.

I can't get more than 300 out of both tanks. Although, I have a lot of idle time during the winter. During the summer I get around 725 total IIRC.

Remember that the fuel gauge can be severely off. I can drive for over 100 miles before my needle moves off F.

I've said it before .. check your fuel pump pressure. I don't pretend to be an expert in this area but know when I checked my FP it was in mid / upper 20's and did the FPR shim and it went to the low 50's. I'm now going back and forth to work, same distance each day, but gained two additional days before the need to refill front tank.

Or maybe your Dad is borrowing some fuel from you to tick you off .. get back time .... oh yea !

Wow, last time I checked I was getting 10 MPG city. I wish I was getting the 14MPG your getting. It was the first time I checked after getting a Edge Evo so maybe making use of the new get up and go had something to do with it.
