I just bought a 2005 F350 superduty. It came with a remote starter but I do not have the owner’s manual. I looked under the dash and it is a "ford motor company" brand. I was wondering if I can get the owners manual anywhere? I have searched but I have had no success.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Welcome to FTE. Are you having problems with it? If so the first thing I would check is to see if it's covered under the factory warranty. You could call your dealer and ask about a manual. We have a couple of sponsors that are Ford dealers who sell parts at a discount. If you have to buy a manual it would be cheaper through one of them.
It shuts off after 10 minutes, I would like to increase this time. Also, my wife tells me that it does not work if it is extremely cold. She tells it works fine if it is plugged in but if it is very cold it will not activate. I was just hoping to find the manual so I could read up on how to use it.
I have the same problem with mine, but it is the newer model with the extra auxiliary buttons (had it installed in January). Mine shuts off after about 15 minutes (may even be less - I never timed it) and when it is very cold and not plugged in, it will turn over about four times and then time out without starting. It works every time when it is plugged in. I couldn't find anything in my manual about increasing the time it runs, but there should be something - I find 15 minutes more than enough and I don't feel like burning more fuel than that in the winter letting it idle. Since the Fords seem to take a couple of extra cranks to fire, it doesn't turn over long enough to start it when it is below -20 and not plugged in. My GM would start on the remote because it started the fuel pump when the remote starter activated and applied fuel pressure so it would go on the second crank. The ford seems to have the delay of building the fuel pressure first when you turn it to start vs. the GM that fired the fuel pump when turned to the "On" position and then one or two cranks when you turn it to start. Cold weather starting when not plugged in required me to go out and put the key in and turn it to start just so it would roll over one or two extra times and then fire.
I'll check my manual again to see if I can find anything about changing the time it runs - shouldn't be any different on the newer model of remote starter than old one because all I think that was changed was the key fob with the addition of two aux. buttons.
I have the Ford remote start on my '05 F350. I'm sure I have the manual out in the truck. If you have a fax number, I could make a copy and fax it to you.
F.Y.I - I've never had any problems with it. Works every time no matter how cold. Mines set to run 10 minutes, then shut itself down.
I just faxed it. After reading it, it kind of a worthless manual, but it does give you an 800 number to call with questions. Better than nothing, i guess.
