Um if you have big rubber and a heavy foot but no power well then you have alot of loud exhaust noise but no go. Low HP and torque do not add to axle hop/wrap. Im sith STG,either block/stacked block. Do a shackle flip or add rear spring packs then the issue will be solved

Your statement supports that axle wrap up is a low horsepower problem? WRONG!

Trust me. Flip the rear shackles and ditch the lift blocks and you wont have the problem. Busted drive shafts is also evident of a axle wrap issue.

K now, easy buddy. Who said anything about my truck having blocks? And you're right horsepower doesnt have anything to do with axle wrap. But explain to me how my diesel can light up the same size tires with minimal hop, if any, than my 92 1/2 ton with a mostly stock 302? The more torque you have down low to make them break loose, completely loose, then less torque is transfered to the spring, therefor less wrap. And where did i say anything about horsepower?

Read my last post again a little more carefully. I didnt say that axle wrap was not a factor, its just not the only factor. The greater traction from the larger, wider tire as well as the weight of the larger tire takes more torque to spin up to the same speed (not vehicle speed) as a smaller tire. And lets face it, an 89 F150 is not a powerhouse without spending alot of time and money on it, especially with 33's. Broken driveshafts can be caused by lots of things other than axle wrap. Explain to me how axle wrap causes the shaft to break at the cv?

i think its a combo of both.....but i would think the stacked blocks would create more of the "hopping"

well i have 4" blocks and 38" tires i can if i want to light em up but believe i have limited slip so both spin unless i hit it hard enough right off.but i dont get the hop. but 38" super swampers are about $300+ so i want to keep them as long as i can.

i think smaller tires make it worse.....in my expeirences when i had 31's on my truck for street driving i had really bad wheelhop, but when i put 35's and 38's i never had a problem with it at all......

I say again for those that aren't listening..... Check your tranny mount!!!! I had a similar issue and went with the ladder bars thinking my springs were worn and when my t-case finally broke, and I pulled it out is when I found the broken mount. When the truck was just sitting, the mount looked fine, it wasn't until I jacked it up off the crossmember is when I noticed it was broke in half. torque from the motor will lift upwards on the crossmember mount, tweeking the driveshaft upwards, and inturn lift the pinion somewhat giving what appears to be spring wrap up.

And ad for a lack of torque causing wrap up, that is dead WRONG! the more torque that is applied to an aggressive tire that has alot of traction, the more wrap up will be seen. If the case of alot of torque not causing wrap up, then why would full out drag racers with 1000+hp motors need to run ladder bars and 4 links? To prevent wrap up maybe??????

hey guys lets go back to school and learn how to spell!~ yea good stuff!, I agree with quad, little tires make hopping worse. Ive seen it first hand! Im still amazed at how someone can come in here, ask a question, be given 2 or 3 diffrent REAL answers, and still not be happy, because its not what they want to hear, as for the not enough torque, what else would cause axle wrap? Or is it just a mysterious phenomenon that just happens to random trucks?

x2 on removing blocks.

Axle wrap is generally ....... ok always caused by blocks. Sometimes weak/worn out springs or bad springs and blocks.

I have a 3" block and hate it b/c of the axle wrap, but I couldn't do a shackle flip without removing my skidplate and 33 gallon gas tank.

If I'm going to remove that big **** gas tank, then I will replace the fuel sending unit while I'm at it, but I don't have $165 extra just to have a working fuel gauge.... also, 33 gallons is a lot of weight.... basically I'll take any excuse not to pull that gas tank.
