Whats the easiest method of setting the valves. back off to clatter then tighten 1/2 turn...use torque specs...What???? Did head gaskets now I need to get these valves set right!! Please help!! Thanks guys.
If you can play with the rocker arm bolts and get it to run better, you need to install longer or shorter pushrods. There is a way to determine if the valve is too tight or too loose and I am going to try to do this from memory so somebody jump in if it's not correct. Loosen the rocker bolt and then tighten it till the pushrod just contacts the rocker arm. Note the position of the ratchet and turn the ratchet till the bolt stops turning clockwise(tightening). This is the part I can't remember exactly, but I think you need to be at least 1/2 turn and not more than 1 1/4 turn. If your out of this range, the longer or shorter pushrod will work or some people say you can install a shim under the rocker fulcrum instead of installing a longer pushrod.
Welcome to the world of non-adjustable Ford valvetrains.
Well I tried loosening all the valves to just finger tight and it still shakes to beat the band! I thought I may have had a valve too tight also, but loosened it still has the miss. Would the valves cause me to overheat? I checked the Thermostat the water does circulate, the antifreeze is new and mixed to proper proportion with water. Im thinking cracked head or cylinder wall but I dont know? unsure what to check next! Oh yea my timing is close...I can hit the key and it fires right up. Any sugestions???
