I have ( I think anyway ) a bad door switch, possibly the rear gate/ doors. My interior lights and running board lights won't shut off. With the key on and or started I show the "door ajar" dash light. It just started today and will not shut off. I wd-40'd all the door jambs and associated hardware.
Where are the actual switches on the doors AND the rear gate? Any help is highly appreciated! I just bought this 03 eddie bauer 4x4 last month and this is the 3rd issue I've had so far. I fixed the other 2 but this one has me stumped.
on the doors the switches are located in the closing latch..no button you can see or anything..
there is a switch on each side of the rear glass...gently pull the trim off around the rear hatch and you'll see the wiring going to the switches..start by lubing/cleaning them up really good on the inside...there will probably be alot of dust in there...that fixed mine...also check to see if the lock mecanism is working with the pushbutton and key while you're in there...that might need a good cleaning too...
spray the latch with a good penetrating oil and then open and close the door a bunch of times. Your neighbors might think you have OCD, but it might unstick the switch without pulling the panel of and maybe replacing the switch.
