I got some of them F250/350 OEM 20's, wheeladapters.com adapters & put some Michelin AT2 LT 285/55R20 on 'em and boy does it look good! ...to me anyway. Still waiting for new center caps to come in. The stock "round design" ones don't really match the squared off spokes of the new wheels.
So next is the train horns, full sound proofing & 4.30 gears. I should be all set then...well...
They look really good Ken! It gives the Excursion a "lowered" look to it. How are you liking those Michelins, are they quite and how smooth do they ride? How much did 20s change the ride quality on the Ex compared to the stock 16s?

Well it is a 2WD afterall.

They are a a very quiet tire and have a bit more "bite" than the stocker Pirelli's. I could get stuck on wet grass with those!

I don't notice much but I'm not paying too much attention since I'm still looking in the windows of the stores to see my reflection. I would say they improve tracking due to the added width. Cornering is a bit quicker. I really feel even more tuck to the road.

Yeah, I know its a 2wd, the 20s exaggerates the lowered stance of it even more though.
Hey Ken, the new shoes look great!!!! What are the new center caps going to changed, are they more blockier?? Anway, you will hate the sound deadning as you are putting it in but will love if after it is done. (isn't that what the nurse tells the pregnant lady right before she sticks that lovly needle in her for the epidural???) Getting back on topic the sounds dampening is the best mod you can do to the truck.
Hey Ken, don't hound me too much for my typing, it is kinda hard to type when you are pumped full of darviset for my knee.
Monsta, what is full sound proofing? Sounds interesting. Thanks.
The full sound-proofing is me removing out the interior, to include the carpet, and using B quiet Ultimate sound dampening material to get rid of the road/engine & exhaust noise. It will go from the firewall to the hatch, all the doors (including the barn doors), under the hood (no factory liner) and if any is left over I'll drop the headliner and do the ceiling. Wanna come over and help?

I actually put an add-a-leaf in the back about 3 weeks after I bought it because with a full tank of gas and loaded up with the family a trip to Costco would make the rear-end droop. Same thing for when I used to tow my horses. (comparison pics in my gallery) I like the raked look anyway.
Bryan...wanna share? At least you can't feel your knee, right?
Your new tires/wheels only added ~.75" to the tire diameter too!
You gonna have the PCM re-flashed for the new size and if so...you may as well have them blow the 4.30's into that as well for you...afterall 4.30's IS an OEM choice on the Ex's!!!
I have a SuperChips Tuner that allows me to make changes for gearing and tire height.
My 4.30's are in the mail (our Moderator assures me) and should go in next week.
And, yes, the Michelins are E's. Very, very hard to find a 285 series 20 in E that isn't a real aggressive tread. 275's are fine but too tall. And I didn't want to go wider than a 285 for fear of fitment issues.
