Exclamation >>>>> 1987 Ranger Throwout Bearing<<<<<

i got an 87 ranger 2.9 5 speed, i bought this truck needing a new clutch, i have tackled other problems such as leaking head gaskets, anyways the clutch kit i bought comes with the new throwout bearing, the according to the instructions the new bearing is a one piece design, and the old one is a 2 piece design, it says theres a sleeve in between the slave cylinder and the old throwout bearing, well the sleeve must be removed in order for the throwout bearing to fit, and function properly, i am aware of how its supposed to fit, but my question is... is the sleeve part of the slave cylinder? i cant not get it to come out, am i missing something? is the instructions misleading, am i gonna have to buy a new slave cylinder(old slave cylinder works fine) compatable with the new throwout bearing?

I know you dont want to hear this, but the general concencus is that you change an internal(concentric) slave cylinder everytime you do a clutch job. This is because in the near future it will fail and you'll have to drop the trans again.

well im gonna wind up buying the slave cylinder anyway, i tore up the old one by trying to get that sleeve off of it, i dont know why they give you a throw out bearing with a clutch kit, when you wind up having to buy a slave cylinder with the throw out bearing already attached

The throwout bearing is a cheap part. It comes with a clutch kit because you're supposed to change it with the clutch. It comes with a slave because you're supposed to change it then too.
