Help!!! Cannot find this item.
I am posting on this forum because so many of you have so much knowledge and ability to find things.
I have checked on line looking for a portable altimeter. I have stopped at Camper World, called auto parts stores in different parts of the country. I have been told that new RV's have them built in now. Auto parts stores handled them till about 12 to 18 months ago. The ones on line have been watches with this feature or pocket models with other features.
What I am looking for is a portable altimeter that sits on the dashboard and can be moved into any truck or car easily. These have been around for as long as I remember( on my good days of course,lol ).
Any help on a place to purchase one of this, if still available, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

I just did a search on Yahoo.com for "portable altimeter" and came up with a bunch of websites that carry a lot of different styles, you might try that. Also, more and more GPS units are coming equipped with them, and I would assume this is why basic altimeters are becoming a little more scarce.

A pressure operated altimeter will show different altitudes for the same place based on the current barometric pressure.
