1979 fuel consumption-ugh
I am a part-time w/e mechanic that is using the guide to try and figure this out. My son bought a 1979 F-150 Supercab on ebay. It has a 400, 6.6 liter, V8 and goes through gas like there is no tomorrow. What do we need to do to remedy this-other than get rid of it? Somebody told me that it has a vacuum leak, but I tried everything to find it, would that be causing the very poor mileage?

A 400 is not going to be the best engine for fuel economy but what kind of mileage are you getting?
