i have a dead trans computer on my e40d, and im told that an oem computer comes to around 400$ thats 400$ that i dont wanna come up with. what i want to know is, does the banks trans command work as a stand alone or does it work along side the stock computer? because it's only 275$ or so.
or am i going to be better off looking for a trans computer in a junkyard? although i wonder how well it would fare being in a junked truck.
well it's 2 am and im gonna sleep for the weekend, you guys ahve fun while im sleeping.
The transcommand Kit I recived from banks for my e40d Has to have the oem computer. It does work along with the stock computer. All the transcommand does is sense engine load by throttle position and possibly speed and or tach to adjust line pressure. That way when you are not on it and not pulling anything it will shift soft and when you hammer down on the throttle, the transmission will shift hard to prevent it from slipping. I have it installed in mine and it seems to work great. Nice hard shifts at full throttle to smooth shifts that I can barly feel while putting around town.
