Hello, I have a 04 fx4, I was driving along with the truck in 4 wheel high. Then hit the edge of the road and was pulled into the ditch. Snow was up to the door handles. Put the truck in 4 low. Got out, but now i can not put the truck into 2 wheel high. Stuck in 4 wheel low, the 4 low light is on. Iam assuming it is something to do with the IWE. I do not think there is water in the vacum lines.
But then again i could be wrong. Any ideas?
Thanx.
Being locked in low all the time would not be fun. As Dirty mentioned have you gone through the proper procedure to get out of low?? I thought the fail safe for the 4x4 was hi, but I can't recall.
My 04 FX4 did the exact same thing, tried everything..nuetral, reverse, etc. Started heading home with it slowey, came to a stop sign about a mile into the way home, it finally came out of low...
4x4 low range is engaged by the shift change motor on the transfer case. All the IWE's do is lock the front hubs to the axle shafts. If you have a problem I'd look there. Ford has a T.S.B. on this - if you look on this site I think you will find it.
It’s not a vacuum line, period. Two completely different aspects of the system. Your problem is either your not in neutral with your foot on the brake, your gears are binding in which case try driving forwards and backwards a little bit and try again, or you have an electrical problem or a mechanical problem with the shift motor. Again not your IWE’s and not your vacuum system.
