Can anyone tell me how long the the cable running from positive to positive an then down to starter should be?
I need to order one to replace the swollen, cracked, corroded green mess that's in there now, and the place I'm ordering from has two chioces - I think it was 116" and 123".
I agree, go long. I just replaced mine with an auto-electric shop rebuilt one. It was a bit shorter than my original and is tight in a couple places. Bending excess cable out of the way, or zap-strapping it is way easier.
if you don't have to have the truck, you could just take them off all at once or one at a time and match them that way. if you're like everybody else, you probably don't have the luxury of doing that. you can take a piece of string and tape it to one end and trace the cable and measure what ya got and add a smidgen to that for stretching. that's probably the best way if you want it right without removing them to measure.
Thank you, I think I'll try that measurement by string idea, thank you speedrdr...
I'll take that measurement and if it doesn't match up, I'll go long, it'll be good to have a little slack I bet.
I'm ordering mine from an independent battery shop here in town, just picked up two new 1040CA/880CCA's from em, and want to ge the cables thru them too.
