New fuel pump problem...

I just got the fuel pump I've been waiting for (in tank) and it turns out I was supposed to buy a new strainer! Well here's the problem. I need it right quick and dont have time to get a strainer! (no parts stores here and have to order online...PITA) So, will this 40 dollar pump last me a couple tanks of gas at least? That's all I need it to last for, I'll gladly buy a new one when I'm done moving.

With no strainer I wouldnt bet on it lasting a tank if there is any crap in there.

well that's no fun. at all. think paper towel would work for a bit? Better than nothing at least...

I wouldn't use a paper towel. Maybe some cheescloth or a couple of screens out of a paint funnel. Or window screen. I'd be afraid of that paper towel going to pieces and doing more harm than good. Or maybe best yet, get a Coleman lantern funnel and take the felt out of it, they are made to strain camp fuel which is basically unleaded gas.

A small piece of pantyhose might work....fit it over the end and find a way to zip tie it so it doesn't get sucked in...maybe tie a knot in it above the zip tie so it can't slip.
