It snowed a couple of days ago and i had this genious idea that i would go down in one of the fields and do some doughnuts. Well about the third set in two wheel drive i heard a faint pop and then the engine all the sudden had this phantom rev limiter, the engine would not rev past 3000 in gear. On the road it is fine it will turn 5500 no problem on acceleration. What is the deal? anyone else had this happen?
i have the exact same problem for my truck. i was doing donuts but not in the snow. i have an stx so i dont have a tach but in park i cant rev it up like i could before.
Maybe there is some inertia switch that has gotten tripped??? Not really sure about that. Maybe check out the fuel shut off switch by the fuse panel. It shuts off by inertia maybe that got tripped partially... Just a shot in the dark.
The first thing I would do would be disconnect the neg battery cable and let it reset the computer. Sometimes they can go into some type of safety mode or just freak out and reseting the computer will usually fix it. Its a free fix to so its the first to try.
How much gas was in it? You may have momentarily starved the fuel pump. On my F150, due to the supercharger, I can't keep less than about 1/3rd tank if I plan on a WOT launch (otherwise it stalls from lack of fuel about 1 - 2 seconds after launch).
