I was at Canadian Tire the other day and there was a attractive young lady working the parts counter and then I went to Parts Mart and there was another lady working the counter there.
for a good laugh go to canadian tire parts counter and ask for parts for anything older than 1970. When i asked about something for the 53 the guy went cross eyed, I swear to god he did.
I know what you mean Chris, there is alot of places like that. I went to a parts store to get a block heater cord for the FIL and the guy asked me if it had airconditioning. Its just so hard not to laugh some days.
Oh yeah chris they arent very knowledgable there at all! On occasion you can get one fella that knows a thing or two. Most of the time they have to go from the computer, which i doubt even goes back that far.

No such luck around here, the parts gals are fairly rare and not too sweet round here.
What`s Parts Mart?
Does it have A/C That is so true. Asking for rear seals for the diffy and the ask if itis front wheel drive. You stand there and give them the look that says what planet are you from? That always gets me when they ask those questions that have no bearing on the needed part.
Parts source or Canadian tire are usually factory 2nds. They are good for the time being and sometimes you luck out. I find most of their stuff lasts only ayear at most. I deal with Walkers here for quality parts and the knowledge. They always seem to know what you need and what you can interchange with.
I do use the earlier mentioned stores. usualy when cash is low or for a pinch. But for quality I use Walkers. I pay more, but am happier with what I have.
I have been thinking about ordering stuff online from down in the states when i need stuff. Seems to be cheaper and the shipping sometimes isnt half bad.
they say what the computer tells them lol ... like robots :P, kid at Canadian Tire said they dont have an oil pan in stock, but they have the gasket set 1 or 2 piece ones ... I asked whats the second piece in the 2 piece set is for .... he said he has no idea with a shake of his head lol, I assume for the plug?......
they want $80.99 for an oil pan (have to order it) and $24? for the gasket
you should see them when you ask for somthing for a 50's car or truck ... they tell you they dont sell anything like that ... meanwhile you bought the same item about 2 weeks ago from one of the older employee's haha
theres another place called CTR auto parts, they're very good there... they made a mistake once with callipers for one of my cars, I took em back and they gave me the right ones for the price of the wrong ones like $50 or $60 saving, I'll check with them tomorrow,
If its a better (or the same) price and they have it in stock ill pick it up there,
i have good luck with acklands and i also use york auto, a local bunch... real good guys with some older stock thats hard to find elsewhere...
York Auto is good(Moose Jaw location), I get alot of stuff from their because they know there stuff and the FIL has them for one of his parts supplier for his garage. So if I am good I get the family discount. Another place I deal with is Mainline Fleet in Regina they are also really good.
got it at a different canadian tire location, new oil pan (3 yr warranty) and 1 piece rubber gasket 143.82, had 20 bucks in ct money lol so I actually paid $123.82
i didn't realize york auto was a chain. here its all guys in their 40's and older. they all seem interested in equipment, be it farm or road. it sure helps with the good service!!
Good stuff Joe, I`ll even try to sign your guest book.
It`s hard to believe that an oil pan can rust out but I`ve heard of that before on these trucks.
