I have a 1970 f100 2wd long box and i am doing a tranny swap from the 4 speed manual to a c-6. right now it has a 2- peice drive shaft and i would like to switch to a 1 peice. what other driveshafts will work in my pickup? i don't have the tranny in yet, i want to get everything lined up before ripping into it.
i got a 1 peice out of the junk yard 4 mine i think it come outa a 80 or 81 with a c-6 pick the yolk off the rear end also that way you can keep the same u jiont. before ya go to the junk yard take a tape measure and measure your drive line from front u joint to rear u jiont and then find one realy close,or have one made
I don't remember where mine came from, but I run a single with no problems in my lwb 66. You will need to get everything set up and then measure and have one cut to fit.
I think most find having one cut is more cost effective than all of the searching for correct length and ends.
damn i wish we lived closer together, i would do a direct swap with you. tranny and driveshafts and all! i've heard those have a rediculously low first gear, nickname granny gear, but how do they handle on the highway vs a 3 speed auto? i have 3.25 gears and get 2800 rpm at 70mph
well i have 2.75 rear gears 26 inch od tires and get about 2100 rpm at 60. You can not shift them very fast, thats why i'm going to an automatic and my dad had a rebuild c-6 ready to go for the right price. thanx for all the answers.
Most 1965/79 F100/150's use 1310 size Spicer Type U-joints: Front/Rear and Center (if applicable).
On some, the front and rear are the same...on others, the front is different from the rear and center.
1310: C3AZ-4635-E / C3AZ-4635-F / C3AZ-E is smaller in diameter.

There's another U-joint that was also used.

I recently drove my dads f150 supercab with a 351m and manual 4 speed (1st granny) across Mexico all the way to NC. I averaged 16.8 mpg driving the truck 75-80 miles per hour. I NEVER used 1st gear, hated it. Doing the C6 automatic swap myself. Currenty looking for a driveshaft myself since I dont want to cut the one I have.
