power wire routing!!!

today i was able to install the componenet speakers in the doors and i'm running a new hard wire to them! tomorrow i will be running the power wire thru the firewall and i'm asking for advise to where you guys ran yours! it seems kind of tricky cuz the firewall is far back from the engine bay!

it looks like i will have to route it from the passenger side (battery) to the other side then run it thru some grommets but it'll look ugly going across the engine bay!

i'm open for suggestions!

Just get some black wire loom and cover the wire and zip tie it up out of the way.

There is a grommet right next to the gas pedal. If you look inside next to the gas pedal, pull back the carpet you will see a pre-cut circle in the foam. Rip that off and there is a good sized grommet.

I found a body plug just down and to the left (look at the engine-from the front) of the brake master cylinder which pops out about speedo/instrument cluster level in the cab.

On edit... I only have a XL trim package, so what-ever option that may use that hole isn't there.

I put a 1/0 through the firewall with another wiring harness just behind the coolant reservoir. The plug near the gas pedal was too close to the headers....

I just installed an amp and sub on my screw last night and routed an 8 gauge wire through a oval shaped plug on the upper passenger side right by the battery and it worked great. I think you could run a bigger wire through it was a pretty big hole just took a little patience to poke the fish around the HVAC unit but you can hardly see the wire in the engine compartment.

wow, 1/0 guage huh, how in the world did you even bend that thing? that thing is almost unbendable! i was going to run a 2 guage wire but the wire cost was more than just running 2 separate 4 guage wires! i should of just did a 2 guage though!

look at my pics to see the grommet through the firewall. That is where I put mine. It took about 3 seconds to go through.

i was going to go thru that grommet as well but i thought it was up too high and noticable so i went for the lower one near the gas pedal. i was going to run 2 4 guages but i decided to just run 1 single 4 and just feed 8 guages to both amps. each amp calls for 4 guages though!
