Door panels

I have a 1985 Ford truck in bad need for some tan replacement door panels. There are plenty of 80-86 panels in the junkyards in the same shape as mine. My question is will the 87-91 or 92-96 panels work? I know the doors all look the same on the outside but in all the catalogs the 80-86, 87-91, and 92-96 door shells all have different part numbers. I just have the base model style but was wanting to go with the xlt style I know there are some people on here who are familiar with the swaps so any input is greatly appreciated!

Yes they will work. Only thing is that they don't line up with the dash pad correctly. It doesn't bother some people, but it would drive me nuts.

If you look for the "cb mounting location" thread, one of the the user's, Sycostang, has a picture of a newer door panel and an 80-86 dash.

Keep in mind that I'm not knocking anyone for what they have done to their truck. It's really just a matter of your likes and dislikes. Who cares what anyone else thinks any way?

My personal taste is to make it look stock or like it could have come from the factory that way. To me, less is more and the cleaner the lines the better.

To each their own.

Yeah, junk yards have tons of them.

Nearly any FORD will do. They are all the same.
