Clutch issues?
I have a 94 F-150 4.9L 5 speed manual.
I bought it new and it has 98k on it.
The other day the clutch started acting weird. The clutch would engage with the pedal just off the floor. The first 60 to 70% of clutch pedal movement (toward the floor)felt light and spongy and did not seem to activate the clutch.
So, I get stuck in my front yard the other day and tried rocking back and forth to get unstuck. Clutch got hot because I could smell it.
The next day the symptoms seemed worse. So, I was thinking either the master or slave cylinder is bad. Checked the fluid and it was good.
The next day I drove into town to run errands. Stopped by the local mechanic to discuss my clutch and get his input. By the time I was halfway home, the clutch started acting normally. I drove the truck to work today 20miles. Still seems ok.
Anybody have any inputs on this phenomenon? I'd love to hear them!!!
thanks!!!
Good luck,
Dave
