Which Programmer
Which is the best programmer or are they all about the same? Are they safe as far as engine life is concerned? Im looking for fuel economy mostly. I have a 98 F150 with a 4.2.

I haven't seen a programmer for a 4.2L V-6 anywhere.

the site i use to buy some parts for my truck has two options for a programmer, JET Performance and Hypertech. Heres the link to the page for a 1998 f-150 4.2L.

Hypertech doesn't have a model for the 4.2L V-6.

you might want to look into sct it is a ford tuner. it has lots of info to read on so you can learn to tune your own truck for what you want it to do. and as a tuner it doesn't run very much

Jet offers a programmer for the 4.2L. It's about 400.00$ and is supposed to have all the features that you would want. I believe it's jetchips.com.
