Ok Sr,MGR.
If all above you say is True...
Isn't Ford Motor Company a ISO 9002 Registered company?
If that is true. Your Dealership and Ford Are Probably not in accordance with what ever the criteria mentioned in your registration.
Or did Ford just write their criteria for this oil level issue with Wide open areas for all of us to guess at.
If the Dip stick is wrong, showing the full mark. it should be modified and the guidlines stated TO THE TEE... what the oil level instructions should be. Not "A Safe Operating Level"..
Simple as this:
Your new Supercrew takes 7 quarts of oil.
This will fill it to the full mark.
OR..(Install a new Dipstick newer than the 1977 dip stick used in the LTD's).
Your new Supercrew takes 6 quarts of oil.
This will Fill it to the full mark.
P.S. My dad works at a Ford dealership and any f150 theyve ever had come in for a oil change has had 7 quarts put in it.

hey, it's not brain surgury - it's oil - it's a fun topic, and definitely debateable.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The max line on the dipstick should never be exceeded, but it is not
necessary for the level to be there, and will actually be about half
way to a little over that with 6. Mark your dipstick there after a 6
qt. change and use that for full. Ford confused people years ago with
that max. mark and I sure don't know why they went back to it. As for
5-20, I still use the 5-30 originally recomended for my gen I sc, but
the Ford 5-20 is supposed to be synthetic that they are selling for
regular price now trying to get people to use it. It is recomended for
all the newer 97/ up triton engines, but I've stuck to the 5-30 for some reason.
just my story: when i took my truck to the dealer in Yorkville, NY, they said FMC "approved" (or was it "doesn't care anymore") if i use 5W-20 (blended) or 5W-30 (dino)....they put 5W-30 in, so i had to ask...after the fact of course.
