I am not sure but somewhere between here and another site that the "high flow cat" was kind of a scam the extra cfm's were negligible if at all. The post was written by a guy who actually built catalytic converters. Not sure of the accuracy but thought it was worth a mention.
I was looking at those options for my old gasser but was advised against and told go with a cat back for my app. Obviously I was not at 500hp so my needs were different. My cat back and hypertech(not a big fan anymore) gave me a 2-4 mpg boost.
Don't bother with replacing the cats on the 05'up SD gassers. The 05'up SD exhaust is far better than the 99'-04' SD exhausts which only used on massive cat. The 05'up SD gassers use two cats. The stock exhaust system is a heavy duty stainless system with decent bends. I would just replace the restrictive stock muffler with a free flowing aftermarket muffler and add a nice stainless exhaust tip. It will cost far less $$$ than a cat-back system.

hmm, i haven't read that, but i don't doubt it, as physically big as the stock unit was. if you come across that info, i'd be very interested to see it.
i guess if nothing else it allowed for some more sound while still being legal.
