Frame Swap

This question is always asked and there isn't a whole lot of information about it. I like everyone else likes to see pics of how ya did it and how'd it work.

Well tonight while I was looking at some projects on another website I'm on....Killbillet.com...I found a link to a frame swap project. Where the guy used an S-10 frame under his F-1. Complete with pics and everything

Here is the link:

Enjoy!!

if ya look in 51 duellers { nathan's } signature he's got a link to his website showing his in great detail replete with photos , and we got a fella by the moniker of houghda who has some good stuff on his swap here and pics in his gallery . mine was a simialar swap to duellers that didnt get to be finished , long story , but i was / am horrible at keeping up on pics and info so....... i seen an article on a swap done on a bonus built onto s-10 frame before seemed pretty straightforward as far as this complex subject goes .

That's the problem with frame swaps on our trucks, a lot are started very few finished sucessfully.
Grafting the rear section of the Ford Frame to the S-10 is the same as doing a front clip with a lot more work. Might as well just graft at the firewall and save a lot of grief.
Then the issue with the S10 becomes one of the purists that must use Ford power, the S10 frame is obviously set up for the "dreaded" CSB.

anything is possible...it would be just like a front clip...

My neighbor used a S-10 frame for his '35 Ford street and mounted a Ford V8 from a early '70s Torino. I don't the perticulars, he doesn't have it finished yet but has it out on the street test drives and everything seems to work correctly.

S10 rear frame shape and suspension layout better suited to a car than a truck. The + of an S10 is the parallel sided frame like the ladder frame design Ford liked so much and size is a closer match.

Joe, I'm in the early stages of a 48 onto a s10 frame swap. I'm using the short wheelbase, so I plan on either making the box 6" shorter or I have always thought a hot rod flatbed would look cool. I have looked at that website but I personally think the body sits too low on the chassis, I'm adding 3" square tube to the dip in the s10 chassis which should give 6-7" ground to running board. This also allows me to set back my engine/trans,should handle like a slotcar. I don't have a gallery up yet as I'm a bit af a computer idiot, maybe my kids can help out on that.
