I have been having some problems with one of my intercooler hoses popping off , I know its time to replace with aftermarkets but I was able to get it to stay on until I could order them , tonight I started to notice a high pitched whinning noise on excelleration around 1800/2000 RPM exaust gas temps running higher than normal then on one of the hard excellerations I heard a POP! thought it was the intercooler hose that had popped off again so I stopped and took a quick look and all the hoses were still on . What I am thinking is ther is a leak somewhere but will not be able to get into it until tomorrow AM . High EGT /no boost Hope it's not the turbo . Any thoughts ?
Up pipe leak , spider pipes , is that the name for some of the hoses? The hose that kept popping off on me what I did to fix it was to take a piece of drywall sanding sceen paper and rip lenth ways 1 1/2 piece for the inside and between the hose and clamp and it worked really good .
The up-pipes are the pipes coming up into the turbo off the exhaust manifolds. The spider boots are the two orange boots on the intake manifold coming into the bottom of the "spider" assembly where your intercooler boots also come in to the turbo area. Are you sure that the sanding screens aren't actually causing a boost leak? Those boots really need to seal well.
The screen maybe leaking a little but not enough to worry about before the new ones come in , found the problem this am , it was the hose on the passenger side bottom into the intercooler this time . these things are popping off left and right . Has anyone replaced with the ones from Dieselsite ? Also , once you do the ccv mod can you pull the intercooler and clean all the oil res out , does it help ?
How tight are you putting them on? Unless you have more than normal PSI pressure or very dirty/oily boots it shouldn't be coming off that easily. I had one pop once after putting back on and a) not cleaning properly before reinstalling and b) not tightening the clamp enough. After it popped I cleaned good, put back on tight....no problems since.
They are on tight but the hoses are just worn and soft they will actually slide off from the clamps just tightening them , the sreen paper between the clamp and the hose gives it a good bite and works great .

You need to either clean them properly, or replace them. Screen paper, or whatever is not the way to go. Mine were soft from oil residue, but a serious cleaning and then some brakekleen before install will keep them there. 40 psi give or take at times on the stock stuff except the plenum tubes. Hairspray works good too but only after a proper cleaning.
No , the screen is just until I get them delivered I too agree that the screen is not a fix just a quick bandaid . What about the intercooler , can it be cleaned out , and is it ok to do so ?
Once you do the CCV mod, the oil will no longer be introduced. Some have removed the IC IOT clean it out with soapy water etc as that is about the only way to do it. I have not cleaned mine out. It still puts out a bit of oil but not enough to be a problem with my boots.
