From what I have seen, Red and ULS diesel may be the same, but not filtered the same by the stations!!!! The Red has more , sand/dirt.

Crosbo,
You may be correct; what I really had in mind was the equipment such as the big Cat dozers, the big track hoes, the big hydraulic cranes, etc. A lot of this equipment is basically run by computers and I guess similar to our trucks on a smaller scale.
Oh well,

Speaking from a LOT of experience I don't believe the sand/dirt part of this post for a second.

I know in Arizona.....if you are caught, they can fine you for EVERY SINGLE MILE on your vehicle if you are caught with Red Diesel! I know of a contractor that went bankrupt here in my city that got popped. I'll stick with good Ol' #2

In the last 2 years here in MN they have started checking pick ups alot more seem like the order they use is
1 trucks with transfer tanks
2 trucks with livestock trailers
3 trucks with landscaping or excavating signs on the side.

Yepp......you basically give up your rights when you make the change to Red Diesel. You have absolutely no way of proving you used #2 Diesel before you were caught with red unless you can produce reciepts, but even then.....it could've been for ANY vehicle. Some guys chance it......I've never been checked in AZ, but I'm not willing to ever take that chance!

The Illinois fine don't sound so bad, almost makes it worth taking the chance. But what about the 10k fine you hear about almost everywhere?

Talking

here,s what you do, get a 300 hundred or better home heating oil tank and put it up against your house (or shed) and run a dummy pipe in your outside wall. if you can get a little broken furnace from a friend put that in front of pipe, install. have home heating oil delivered, waalaa. home heating oil is not taxed.

How come nobody believes in "Innocent until proven guilty" anymore? They can't prove that you had red diesel in the tank before then so according to the constitution they can't fine you for it, but apparently the legal system no longer feels that it needs to abide by the laws they say they are trying to uphold.
