Bought an Actron compression tester and an Actron renote starter switch from Sears. When I went to use the Starter switch, the triger was inoperable, Back to Sears, thery were out ,,off to Pep Boys.
When I went to use compression tester, would not read compression. fooled around, tried different things, borrowed one and completed the compression test OK Back to Sears againg to return tester.
Same company, 2 for 2 What junk or quality control. Called Actron. Talked to the typical non sympathetic moron. I realy think they could care less.
Oh well, the GOOD NEWS IS THAT MY COMPRESSION WAS GOOD ON ALL 8. 120 TO 140 manual called for 115. (279ci)
I hate to see the day China & the US have a falling out & they cut us off. We won't have any clothes, shoes, computers, parts, etc. etc. What a shame it has come to this.
I've been in Quality Assurance for 35 years from Surface Plate to Corporate Management. In the past 7 years I've spent a lot of time in China Manufacturing Companies.
I occasionally see comments about "China Crap". No doubt there's a lot of it out there. Sad to say, if you're getting lousy quality from China, it's because the Company buying it allows it, or I should say, doesn't prevent it.
The Chinese aren't born with a desire to build junk. They will build you exactly what you specifiy and that's where the problems usually occur. They seldom really understand what the product is for, or how it is used. In most cases the buying company doesn't provide precise requirements or doesn't care. Any area or activity that isn't well defined is an opportunity to "improvise" and reduce cost. They are very cost driven.
You need to specify everything-in writing. The exact alloy and source. The Inspection methods, sample sizes and tooling. The paints, plating and sources. Any change of any kind must be pre-approved in writing. Discrepant material must be destoyed, not scrapped. You need to be at the Factory every 90 days. If they explicitly know they will lose your business with an illegal material substitution or something they won't do it. If you don't make that clear, it could happen a year out.
Once they "get it" and you have a relationship, they will build you quality products until the cows come home. They will always press you to consider cost-reductions but above all, they want your repeat and additional business.
I'm not the expert, but that's been my simple experience.
eman92082, Sound's like what every other hard-working S.O.B in the world is TRYING to do,too many money hungry herds of shark's seem to keep it from happening,
I'm with ya man, ....just my .02$
I would gladly buy U.S.A. made products if I could find them. Went to four auto places for the two mentioned tools, all of them had the same tool or another made in China. Where do yiu get the good stuff
Dawgie is dead on. And thats sad (Not you Dawgie, the facts.).
We, every U.S. Citizen let, helped, enabled, pushed, bitched, cried, VOTED (YES VOTED) and/or otherwise aided us, the U.S. to assume the position in which we find ourselves$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I recently rebuilt a transmission in a Mack truck and the genuine "Fuller" replacement transmission parts had "Made in China" stamped all over them. I don't now what kind of quality they are, it hasn't been on the road long enough to tell, but it is sad to see what was once an American icon moved overseas.
On another note, I have a customer who is part owner in Loggy Bayou Deer Stands Co. and they recently moved their manufacturing to China. This year when they shipped several rather large orders to big name distributors, they got them back as refused. They've had a warehouse sale going on and almost giving them away.
