C6 Transmission question

I have an 86 F350 2wd dually. Great truck. Has a 460 in it. I recently bought it and had to redo the heads but now I notice that it hangs onto first gear / second gear perceptively longer than it should. I recently changed the oil / filter including draining the TQ (11 quarts mind you) but still the same problem. Any ideas you may have would be great. I started looking out on Evil bay for a remanufactured one but everything is pre 86 thus far and I'm not quite sure of the differences. Do you think this transmission is tired and ready to go out? Truck has 97000 miles on it.

It simply may be the vacuum modulator has rust in it after 22 years of being on the road. You can get a new one and see if it fixes the problem.

Ohhh Good Suggestion. I looked at the vacume line last night to see if I had it hooked up and I did but I may pull the modulator and take a look.

Thanks

Make sure the vacuum line has no holes or cracks in it the whole way down to the modulator. Any other vacuum leaks on the engine could reduce the vacuum enough to affect the tranny too.
