I'll see if my Mom has any of the old stuff saved, I know her and the relatives used to pass things around way back when.

Did you convert, or were you raised LDS?

Well you got to admit that anyone who knew both places would call the mountains east of the Great Salt Lake paradise compared to the high desert west of the lake!

And what's wrong with the high desert west of the lake?

What! You don't like searing heat, rattlers, bobcats, mountain lions, no water?

Hmmm! I see your point.

Grew up in the environment, and decided to get baptised. I know the term 'Jack Mormon' quite well...LOL

Ma was Mormon and Dad was Catholic...what a combo!

"This is the place."

Brigham Young knew that in advance, because he had scouts ahead, and they told him...that...this better be the place, because ahead for miles is nothing but scrub desert. btw: Salt Lake City was originally named Great Salt Lake City.

When Joseph Smith died, the church split, because instead of Smith's son (I think, not sure) being named the leader, as Smith dictated in his will, many of the members chose Young instead.

The flock left Nauvoo IL, and when they reached Far West MO, the members that had chosen Young continued on with him (after the snow melted), the others stayed behind and renamed their church the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: RLDS.

Las Vegas NV was originally a Mormon colony as was San Bernardino, CA.

This city was founded by members of the Mormon Battalion on their way home after trekking to CA to fight in the Mexican War.

They didn't fight, tho...they arrived too late.

2. Jack Mormons: Smokers and/or drinkers of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.

Last sentence in the Book of Mormon: By the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.

And let's not forget one of the greatest modern Mormon, and a Young, of them all. Steve.

That passage is in Moroni, but isn't the last one...I had to pull the Book out to verify...

Moroni 10 34 is the last one in the BoM.

You quoted verse 5 in Chapter 10

You know, Mike, I was wondering about how good a missionary for the Mormon Church you would make - I mean the smoking and drinking beer.

Then I got to thinking about the things I like about the group - the family activities, caring for each other and your neighbors, even being a coach to your daughter's team, always being willing to help someone out - and I realized that you are a good example!

What does it feel like to be a good example of anything?
