I have a Tremec 3 speed OD transmission in my 85 f150 . Does anyone have any information on what the gear ratios are . I am thinking of putting a diesel in front of it . Wanting to know the ratios of the gears . And the maximum torque rating on the tranny also .
Ford did not make an overdrive tranny that would stand up to a diesel, except the zf 5 speed. The only trannies they ever put behind the international diesel where the t19 4 speed, the c6 automatic, the E4OD, and the zf 5 speed. And the E4OD had trouble standing up to the diesel in it's original form.
Some of the other 4 speeds where used behind the 4 cylinder cummins in bread trucks, but they were all heavy duty type with the granny low. Most of Ford's 4 speed overdrive trannies where weaker types.
