Draining the TC

I finally have time tomorrow, I think, to change my transmission fluid. I have a few questions first, if yall don't mind throwing me the answers.

Switching to synthetic fluid, on an old post someone reccommended draining the TC. I assume I need to remove the dust cover and rotate the engine by hand until I see a drain bolt? is this correct? or please advise as to the correct way.

Also, I can get Royal Purple here locally and easily, do you guys think this will be OK, and is there a particluar "type" that works best for our auto tranny's?

Thanks alot
ra

Correct on the drain plug. I use PR gear oil but never used the ATF.

Hmmm, was the drain plug common? On the 97 CC I didn't have a drain plug on the TC...
