chip/programer???

I just bought an 2005 Harley Davidson F250 with the BANKS Monster exhaust and an Airaid cold air intake. The question is where do I look for a chip in this thing? It does not cut off and has a super amount of power (I know its not stock) My friend has his duramax programed and rode with me and said his would not touch this truck!!!

I really hope someone didn't put a hard chip on your truck. The hard chips plug into the PCM and are usually taped down to prevent them from walking out. Your PCM should be behind the emergency brake and you should be able to see any add ons to it.

If you have a tune installed, it's written over the stock program on the EEPROM and is not a visible feature.

If its not there, and it turns out to be an tune installed. could I go to the ford dealer and let them look into it and tell me what it is(or would they just reset it back to stock)

All they can do is erase your performance file and replace it with a stock tune. I don't know of any way to tell who's file has been uploaded. If you are really computer literate, you could download the file and view it in hex and compare to different files to see if you can identify a finger print.

Is there any way to get hold of the PO and find out what was installed? If it was a programer you are stuck, unless you could get the programer and put your stock tune back in your truck. Is there a set of aftermarket gauges on the truck? Look at your PCM and go from there.

Not really, only some tuners put a locking foot print on the files. I did run into something when I switched from superchips to sniper, but I am not sure that wasn't user error. I think it's mostly bully dog and diablo that lock them.

One more thing, this truck makes a sound after cutting it off that sounds like a fuel pump noise. My mom and stepdad both drive 250's (05&06) and their trucks are stock and don't make this noise. Would it be defueling or something like that?

The fuel pump should prime when the key is turned on, when you turn it off, the fuel pump shouldn't have anymore fuel and the engine shuts down. Perhaps it's the turbo spooling down and the reason your parent's trucks don't do it is theirs blows off the pressure immediately and yours holds on for a second longer. Which would be a pretty good indication of either a tune or a mod to the turbo.

Alright I checked and there is not any aftermarket chip, has to be a tune of some kind. I found a speed shop that has a lot of mustangs sitting out front,by my work. I will take it by there and see if they can plug it up and see what I'm working with. Thanks for all the help.

You may want to call them first. The diesel's aren't really OBD2 like the cars are mandated to be and the shop may not be able to communicate with your PCM.
