A buddy of mine at work just told me that he has a whole plow assembly(except the truck mounting bracket, which I can get thru work) for about $300. I was thinking about trying to find one for cheap so I can plow my driveway and my grandfathers, not much more than that. I have been readint that 150's are not good plow trucks because of the front TTB. I have HD springs up front and pretty much have replaced everything up there. Also, I wouldnt be keeping the plow on all the time, just when we got alot of snow. Im not sure if I should, Ive heard plows will wreck the truck. Does anyine have any thoughts or advice??
I bought an F250 to plow with as the '01 f150's are way too light. but my neighbor has a plow on his and does one or two driveways and is fine. I would not personally feel comfortable with doing more than that. If you are smart with how you plow and you dont leave it on forever and dont mind replacing tie rod ends more often than normal then I say go for it, if the deal makes sense.
Everyone will have their own opinion on it, so it will really come down to what you feel is worth it.
as a side note I checked the western plow site and they will fit that truck with up to an 8' plow.
I have a 96 F-150 4X4 that I have a meyers power angle 7.5 footer on now and have used for almost 6 years and NEVER had anything go wrong.
I did the wiring, attaching the mounting brackets and such, lights, Been fine ever since.
