I have been doing a lot of reading here: wow what a wealth of knowledge. The only issue is every thread I read I find my task list growing.

Anyway, I live in Port Perry Ontario and I just bought a 2005 F350. I tow a 10,000 boat and while the F150 was capable of towing a boat this size it was way over the max weight.

My issue is that I picked the truck up on the weekend and once it was in the driveway I slid under to have a look. While it was at the dealership I had them change the transmission fluid. I noticed that one of the pan bolts was not tight. It was sticking out about 3 mm.

></O>- Is there a gasket between the pan and the casting or is it an RTV seal. If it is a gasket there would be no issue but if it is an RTV seal it would be a problem.

There is a reusable gasket.
The fluid level in the trans is hard to read. Using a clean white piece of paper helps. Set the wet dipstick on the paper and sometimes it easier to see the level that way.
