What mainboard are you going to go with? I have always been partial to Asus.

The 775 is still being produced, and they're quad core ready. Asus P5 Professional Series are all 775...

Either the P5W64-WS Professional
Specs
Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready
Intel Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo Ready
Quad-core CPU Ready
DDR2 800/667/533
FSB 1066/800/533
Quad PCI-E x 16 slots

or the P5WDG2 WS Professional
Specs
Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready
Intel Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo Ready
Dual-core CPU Ready
DDR2 800/667/533
FSB 1066/800/533
Dual PCI-E x 16 Graphics
PCI-X Architecture

Sorry guys, I'm a Professional Geek.

Those boards have old chipsets. You have to have the latest version for it to even support my E6750 processor.

I went with the Asus P5N-D

- Intel® Core™2 Quad / Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo / Pentium® Extreme / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 Processors
- NVIDIA® 750i SLI chipset
- DDR2 800/667/533
- FSB 1333/1066/800/533
- ASUS EPU (Energy Processing Unit)
- ASUS Precision Tweaker 2
- Support PCIe2.0 Dual x16 SLI
- ASUS Q-Shield

$176 from OTVTech and it was the pretty much the only affordable Nvidia SLI board.

Do you ever do any file cleaning up and stuff like that? I find that if a person maintains, and updates fairly regularily that usually minimizes any problems.

I clean files/cookies/history, etc almost daily, it does speed up the computer and prevents freezing, other problems!

What about your windows updates? It never hurts to keep them up to date. There might be an update that will prevent some problems.
